What is APPREB?
Establishment
APPPREB was established in December 1991in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
at a regional consultation held in response to needs expressed
by UNESCO Member States of the region to improve the state of publishing
and promote reading habits. Today, APPREB continues to represent
one of the programming focus of UNESCO's creativity, copyright and cultural industries activities.
Main Goals
By bringing together book development experts from the public
and the private sector at the global, regional, national and local
levels, APPREB;
-Facilitates dialogues among them
-Stimulates the flow and exchange
of information
-Assists in the development and
empowerment of local initiatives conceived in the UNESCO spirit
of "Books for All".
Participation
APPREB is open to everyone interested and involved in book
development and reading promotion.
Its growth and success are largely due to the commitment of book
concerned people in cooperation with the Asia/Pacific
Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU), APPREB's coordinating agency.
New
partnerships and cooperation are most welcome.
