For each programme activity, ACCU works with different local counterparts and partners in a given country.
Categories of main collaborating partners:
- National Commissions for UNESCO
- Ministries of Culture, Ministries of Education, Other governmental units in charge of preserving and promoting cultural properties, and developing educational materials, etc.
- Museums, Libraries
- Public and private research institutes , Universities
- NGOs specializing in cultural preservation and educational activities
We place the most importance on networks created by participating in projects, training and meetings.
Since ACCU programmes are implemented in order to concretize UNESCO's ideals, UNESCO is the key partner for ACCU. Our programme is therefore promoted in cooperation with UNESCO headquarters in Paris and with the other fourteen field offices of UNESCO in the Asia-Pacific region.
ACCU manages and oversees the networks listed below, among others.
- Asia-Pacific Cooperative Programme in Reading Promotion and Book Development (APPREB) A network created to promote reading activities in the Asia-Pacific countries
- Literacy Resource Centres for Girls and Women (LRC)
A network consisting of organizations in charge of promoting literacy and/or non-formal education in respective countries (ranging from governmental departments, universities to NGOs) 18 organizations in 17 countries in the Asia-Pacific region
- Under the ESD programme, ACCU aims to create a dynamic network through implementation of new projects and/or to build a meta-network that will bring together fragmented groups of existing networks and individuals.
