A number of workshops and meetings organised by ASPBAE in 2009 have provided opportunities for 11 national coalitions to learn from each other in areas of research and advocacy and to link their in-country work with broader sub-regional, regional and international efforts. For example,a meeting in relation to the Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF) - for which ASPBAE is the Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat – was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in February involving 10 coalitions. In Dhaka, Bangladesh in December 2009 a meeting involving representatives of 6 South Asia coalitions was held in conjunction with a meeting of the South Asia Education Ministers. This provided an excellent opportunity for coalitions to analyse education policy relevant across South Asia and to learn strategies for lobbying ministers and officials at sub-regional forums on education.
