PNG Education Advocacy Network (PEAN) participated in various national campaigns that share the common goals of EFA and ESD. During the week of 21st – 27th April 2008 PEAN took part in an education Global Action Week, which was held at Porebada Primary School; 25 km west of Port Moresby. PEAN managed to get the PNG Governor General Sir Paulus Matane to speak in support of education. 3,364 children participated. From 8-12th September, 2008, PEAN participated in the National Literacy Week campaign in PNG with the theme being “Be HIV/AIDS Literate”. From this involvement a supplementary literacy section was published in a national newspaper where one article highlighted the literacy crisis in PNG and largely quoted data from PEAN’s Educational Experience Report.
