ASPBAE conducted two capacity support trips to the Solomon Islands on 4-11 June and 2-7 July 2009 to revitalize Coalition for Education Solomon Islands (COESI) as a national education coalition. ASPBAE brought together participants from 10 organisations, which led to the re-emergence of COESI. An AGM was held, a new Board was selected, a new Coordinator, Mr. Samson Maeniuta and a new Project Officer, Mr. Paul Kakai were recruited. Since then ASPBAE has provided essential capacity development support to the new staff and board members. This included assisting COESI to submit a successful proposal to the Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF), resulting in substantial funding for its work.
