A District level Stakeholder Workshop on “ Environment Preservation through Social Empowerment” was held on 6 August 2007 at Satkhira district in Bangladesh, where the COE-ACCESS project is implementing. The workshop jointly organized by Dhaka Ahsania Mission & a local NGO, IDEAL. The workshop formally inaugurated by the District Commissioner of Satkhira. The inaugural ceremony was presided by the Chairperson of IDEAL. Mr. Shahnewaz Khan, Director, Training & Materials Development Division of DAM facilitated the workshop. Participants from Government departments, NGOs, Civil Society, and Community Leaders of the district were participated in the workshop.
During the workshop, the study report of the needs assessment & project outlines were presented and discussed about the ESD. According to the aims & objectives of ACCESS project, the participants identified the real problems of environment of the area and discuss about causes of the problems, possible programmes to improve the situation, implementation techniques and possible stakeholders etc.
An exhibition on environmental materials, developed & published by local NGOs of the district, was also held during the workshop.
