"Moyog Family Literacy Project"(2006-2008) is an ACCU-UNESCO Asia-Pacific Innovation Programme for ESD (Education for Sustainable Development). The Kadazandusun Language Foundation (KLF) is the sole recipient of the award/grant in Malaysia.
"Moyog Family Literacy Project" is a pilot project designed to involve families in documenting the indigenous language and culture. This project is currently being conducted in Togudon village, Upper Moyog, in the district of Penampang, Sabah, Malaysia.
In conjunction with the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), project participants will be encouraged to write stories that have strong moral lessons that promote forest conservation and sustainable use of resources. At the same time, participants will be able to improve literacy in their own native language, especially in the written component. All stroies produced in this project will be published into stroybooks for children.
KLF will also work closely with several Partner Organizations to provide services and expertise, such as, in capacity-building, media and research. KLF will also organize dialogue sessions with community leaders to increase awareness and support for the project and its fututre aims.
