“TRAINING OF TRAINERS ON ESD”

Updates of the project activities: Training of Local Non-Formal Education Trainers

Training of Local Non-Formal Education Trainers was conducted for NFE facilitators to orient them with the trainings to be organized at their respective pilot areas. The workshop was held on May 28-29, 2008 in Ulaanbaatar, in which 32 people including NFE facilitators and directors from NFE Enlightenment Centres participated. The participants were trained and provided with information on the overall concepts of Education for Sustainable Development and the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as they had a chance to have some practical lectures as the methodology of utilization the learning materials developed within the “Non-Formal Education Capacity Building for ESD in Mongolia” project in their ESD training. Moreover, the participants were given the class on the vegetable growing technology and making the costless products with waste plastic bags.

From the training, it was decided to develop a training guide for teacher/facilitators on the organization and methodology of the training to be conducted at grassroots level. The guide included the introduction to training, its goal, objectives, organizational guide on the training, and training content and methodology. According to this guide, the ESD project developed learning materials namely, 4 handbooks and 5 posters as well as PLANET -1, 3 will be utilized as a main resource. The training will be conducted in 6 selected sites each of which with 50 learners from June 20 to August 20, 2008.
