Mina Smiles -Multilingual Special Edition with 37 Language Tracks
Since the production of its original English version in 1993, ACCU's Literacy Promotion Animation -"Mina Smiles" has been produced in 39 local languages in 30 countries.
Through the main character of Mina, a woman living in a rural village, the important role of literacy in daily life is stressed and the difficult situations illiterate people face are depicted to encourage them to learn reading and writing as a tool to empower themselves for dignified and sustainable livelihood.
This DVD, compiled with 37 languages tracks covering the languages of Asia, Africa, Arab States and Latin America, is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts in the United Nations Literacy Decade (UNLD, 2003-2012), as well as the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD, 2005-2014). A guidebook with lesson plans is included in the DVD package.
