Invited by the National Centre of Non Formal and Distance Education (NFDE) in Mongolia, one of the ESD Innovation Project executing organisations, ACCU participated in the Capacity Building Workshop on ESD through NFE in Mongolia, 11-12 September 2006.
The NFE methodologists from every region in Mongolia including several districts in Ulaanbaatar city attended the workshop, and gained more knowledge and deeper understanding of ESD, from environmental, social and economic perspectives. The participants discussed the usages of ESD materials which NFDE developed under the framework of ESD Innovation Project, and shared ideas on how to implement ESD at the grassroots level. ACCU enjoyed its participation in the workshop, introducing ACCU’s roles on ESD in the Asia-Pacific Region, some ESD good practices at the community level, and the PLANET programme as an example of ESD activities. It was a great opportunity for both NFDE and ACCU to realise our face-to-face collaboration to promote ESD.
