2) Brief Background
Environmental pollution has become a serious problem in the last few years. Although much of these problems are caused by human activities, public perspectives and awareness on the environmental issue is insufficient. Especially, water supply is the most serious problems, where desertification, deforestation and drying up of rivers are increasing. In winter time, extreme air pollution is caused in Ulaanbaatar by power plants and burning coals in Ghers. Garbage and waste has increased in urban areas, but it lacks recycling system. The improvement of public awareness and knowledge through environmental education is needed to solve these problems.
