2) Brief Background – The role of ONFEC
The main task of ONFEC is to provide and support the services of non formal and informal education to promote lifelong learning. The main target group at the start was the out-of-school population; currently it has expanded the service to cover more target groups as children, women, the disabled, agriculturists, hilltribes, Thai Muslims, Thai people in foreign countries etc. Meanwhile, the Government has emphasized waste management as one of the first priority, and developing GIS of waste management countrywide.

3) Objectives
To adapt PLANET 3 to produce local Thai version and utilize them in most effective ways under local situations; to train NFE teachers/ facilitators to utilize the materials; and to study the impact / outcomes of material utilization in the target areas.

4) Target beneficiaries
PLANET 3 is translated into 3 local languages: National Thai language, Yawee language (Muslim people in Southern provinces) and Pwo-Karen language (Northern hilltribes). The project is linked with the existing programmes as literacy programme, basic education, programmes at Learning Resource Centres etc.

Capacity of NFE personnel was developed.
The quality of life of the people was improved through utilization of knowledge and skills for waste management and through acquisition of credits by studying waste management to accumulate for Basic Education
PLANET 3 could serve as best practice for production of effective learning materials for various groups of people

Centre of Technology, ONFEC (Its NFE centre will broadcast Video of PLANET 3 on TV nation wide), LRCs, Thailand Environment Institute, Science in Rural Schools of National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
