The Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU) published "Animals in Asian Tradition-Intangible Cultural Heritage around Us" in June 2007, aiming to promote Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and the Convention for the Safeguarding of the ICH, which entered into force in April 2006. Mr. Chérif Mohamed Khaznadar, Director, Maison des Cultures du Monde, contributed to this book as a supervisory editor, and Ms. Carla Borden, Research Associate, Centre for Folklore & Cultural Heritage, Smithsonian Institution, as a copy editor. With contributions by world renowned experts, authors and photographers, this book conveys a striking panorama of Asian myths and the beliefs of the Asian people through an easily readable text and 161 illustrations of ICH in Asia. With its vivid and colourful images, this book can be enjoyed by children as well as adults and will help them learn about tradition and cultural heritage in Asia.
