Objectives
Mongolia is the birthplace of nomads' culture and civilization with the history of thousands years. The foundation has been engaging its activities with the purpose to preserve, protect, recreate, study and introduce the cultural heritage of Mongolia. The major objectives of the foundation are following:
- To protect, safeguard, recreate, introduce and study the tangible and intangible heritages of Mongolia.
- To develop an inventory of tangible and intangible heritages including performers, custodians and bearers.
- To process, finance and implement the relevant projects and programs.
- To publicize and promote cultural heritages among foreign and domestic communities.
- To carry out and promote research and training activities relevant to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritages.
- To contact, engage and exchange cooperative activities with the same type of organization in the field of cultural heritages.

Field of Programmes
- Carries out various activities in the field of conservation, restoration of monuments and historical and archaeological sites in Mongolia.
- Cooperates with different museums in the conservation, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritages including immovable valuable objects, items and archaeological findings.
- Carries out many other activities for preservation and promotion of oral and intangible heritage of Mongolia and other nations.
- Encourages and motivates for organizations of festivals, films, exhibitions, seminars, symposia, workshops and training courses and etc concerning cultural heritages.
- Cooperates with different schools and cultural educational institutions in the field of training and educational activities on cultural heritage issues.
- Encourages for central and local authorities and governmental and non governmental organizations serving in the field of cultural heritage issues.
- Supports for elaborating and producing different publications and producing different publications and educational training materials and motivates for their dissemination and for a broader coverage of cultural heritage including intangible heritage in media and press.
Major Programmes on ICH
- With the purpose for World Heritage Nomination of Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape (OVCL), the Foundation has been involved in the work to register and make the inventory of the cultural heritage and historical sites, located in the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape (OVCL) (2000-2001). The Foundation in the cooperation with "Foundation for promotion for the world heritage" of Germany has jointly worked for organizing the national seminar "Management issues on safeguarding Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape" in 2003.
- The Foundation and "Foundation for promotion for the world heritage" of Germany have implemented a joint project on safeguarding Tuvkhun monastery which is a part of OVCL. (2004-2005)
- With National Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations of Japan (NFUA), the foundation has successfully organized the "Picture Festival for the Asian Children" among the children of 24 Asian countries through the years of 2002 - 2007 in Mongolia with the support of the Mitsibushi Corporation.
- Also the foundation with Japanese Association for World Heritage has successfully organized the world heritage days "World heritage of Asia" Mongolian - Japanese Forum-Trip at the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape (world heritage site), and in the Great Gobi desert in June 2005.
- Thanks to UNESCO assistance and in cooperation with other cultural organizations of Mongolia, the Foundation has implemented following projects and issued the recommendation to Mongolian Government and general public.
- "Studies on Present the Situation of Preservation of Intangible Heritage in Mongolia" (2005-2006)
- UNESCO project on "Integration of Mongolian Sacred Sites in Conservation of Bio and Cultural Diversity" (2006-2007)
With UNESCO assistance, the foundation in cooperation with Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO has been involved in organizing and implementing following national and regional projects.
- UNESCO project on "Safeguarding Mongolian Traditional Music of Morin Khuur - UNESCO Masterpiece of Intangible Cultural heritage" (2003-2007)
- UNESCO Children's Performance Art Festival in East Asia (CPAF) held in Mongolia. (2006)
- Sub regional workshop in introduction of the UNESCO SEAL of Excellence for Handcraft Products in East Asia held in Mongolia (2005).
- Regional Heritage Project on "Cultural Survival and Revival in the Buddhist Sangha" (2004-2007)
Periodicals
The Foundation is going to issue periodical magazine "Our Heritage" in the future.
