In commemoration of the International Literacy Year (ILY-1990), ACCU, at the request of UNESCO, published a picture book "Guess What I'm Doing!". With contributions from more than 3,000 individuals and organisations all over Japan, this book was translated into 65 languages in 42 countries worldwide, and conveyed the importance of literacy to a great number of children.

The main characters of "Guess What I'm Doing!" are eleven children living in towns or villages in different parts of the world. Their various activities relating to reading and writing in their daily lives, such as receiving a letter, reading a map, etc. are illustrated colourfully by the artists from all over the world.
