The Magnitude 9.0 Earthquake and subsequent Tsunami on 11 March 2011 devastated many communities of East Japan. East Japan is one of the places in Japan where ESD is spread with innovative ideas. Many UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) including 33 in Kesennuma, and many others in different localities such as Shiroishi, Sendai, Marumori, Iwanuma, Kakuta, Kurihara, Ogawara, Tagajo, Tomiya, and Morioka are the schools that have been actively implementing ESD. These schools and communities hosted many teachers and experts from in and outside of Japan and participated in many international teachers exchange programmes on ESD and ASPnet.
In order to help to facilitate education recovery by schools and communities in affected areas with BBB (“Building Back Better”) spirit, ACCU would like to support them by mediating donation support. The monetary donation will be handed on by ACCU to the local governments (boards of education) in the affected area with ASPnet and participations in exchange programmes through ACCU.
We are anticipating your strong support.
