50 Japanese teachers and officials visiting the Republic of Korea from 22 August with the invitation of Korean National Commission for UNESCO, returned to Japan on 29 August, after completing their 8-day fruitful programme.
Participants visited Korean National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) related facilities in Seoul. Then, they were divided into 2 groups and each visited Chungcheongbuk-do (Cheongju City) and Gangwon-do (Chuncheon City and Wonju City). In each place, they made courtesy calls to Board of Education and visited ASPnet schools and educational facilities.
Participants held a class about Japanese culture in each school and interacted with students directly. Also through activities that Japanese and Korean teachers visited world heritage and ESD-related facilities together, and home visits, teachers in the two countries nurtured friendship and deepened mutual understanding. Participants are expected to utilize their experience in Education for International Understanding (EIU) and ESD after returning to Japan.
