PDF (20KB)

The project, an extension of life-long education and post-literacy programmes, organizes adult literacy programmes through correspondence courses and postal services.

1 Objectives The underlying premise of the project is to promote further learning and to provide second chance education for integrating these learners in the mainstream of higher education. The main objectives of the programme are:
To provide continuing education opportunities to those who cannot attend literacy classes regularly;
To augment economic well-being and quality of life; and
To open new avenues for self-learning.
2 Partners
Literacy Movement Organization (LMO), Iran
3 Input
Easy-to-read materials
Guidance and counseling for setting up of small-scale enterprises
4 Process
The teaching-learning method primarily comprises both direct and indirect correspondence with the course participants. In areas where access is relatively easy, the members of each literacy group elect an anchor for maintaining regular liaison and contact. However, in rural and remote areas, the programme strictly follows postal correspondence for imparting literacy skills. Responses from the participants are regularly evaluated and the course organizers provide systematic comments.
