| "Literacy" refers to the ability to read and write a simple
message in any language or dialect. (=Simple literacy) "Functional literacy" refers to the ability to read and write with comprehension, as well as to make simple arithmetical calculations in an expanded sense; and the possession of minimum skills needed to carry out simple functions in life and interact with others in society. |
