To increase accessibility and availability of information
on literacy activities at local, national and regional levels, ACCU and
UNESCO have jointly developed and are updating with the co-operation of
Member States, the Asia-Pacific Literacy Data Base. This Data Base is
accessible through any computer linked to Internet (URL http://www.accu.or.jp/litdbase)
and it is also available in CD-ROM.
The basic purposes of the Data Base are:
| [1] |
to understand literacy situations at a glance in
Asia/Pacific regional, country, state/provincial, and grass-root
levels; |
| [2] |
to provide up-to-date key data for decision-making
by government sectors, NGOs' international agencies; and |
| [3] |
to share innovative literacy materials and strategies |
