(1) Asia-Pacific Literacy Data Base

To increase accessibility and availability of information on literacy activities at local, national and regional levels, ACCU and UNESCO have jointly developed and are updating with the co-operation of Member States, the Asia-Pacific Literacy Data Base. This Data Base is accessible through any computer linked to Internet (URL http://www.accu.or.jp/litdbase) and it is also available in CD-ROM.

The basic purposes of the Data Base are:
[1] to understand literacy situations at a glance in Asia/Pacific regional, country, state/provincial, and grass-root levels;
[2] to provide up-to-date key data for decision-making by government sectors, NGOs' international agencies; and
[3] to share innovative literacy materials and strategies
