It is a skill-based continuing education material for neo-literates. This material informs people about how to repair cycles, rickshaws and vans. By using text and picture the material includes information on list of necessary and permanent instruments, where to find these instruments, common problems of cycles, rickshaws and vans and how to solve the problems, etc. |

Motivating adults in achieving literacy and continuing education is a big challenge all over the world. We can face this challenge if we can integrate literacy and CE with poverty alleviation. One of the ways of linking literacy with poverty alleviation is to develop skill-based materials for neo-literates. DAM has developed a series of 24 skill-based booklets on different useful skills. Community people need to develop their skills or find a new area for income generation. This booklet can help neo-literates to gain the knowledge and skills needed for starting a repair shop for rickshaws, cycles and vans. This booklet can be considered an exemplar material for Asia Pacific countries to encourage neo- literates in alternative income-generating activities. Following the structure and design of this booklet any country can produce this type of skill-based materials. |

Innovativeness: neo-literates can initiate income-generating activities after reading this booklet. All relevant information and skills were presented in a systematic & simple way. An appropriate number of actual photos was used to give real understanding on the subject. |

Following steps were followed during development of this material: Needs assessment, analysis of needs, selection of objectives, selection of contents, selection of format, development of draft material, selection of teaching, learning process, editing of material, field testing and preparation of final dummy, printing of material |

The material has been distributed in all continuing education centers of Dhaka Ahsania Mission through its distribution channel (Central office to area office and then local area offices to continuing education centres by couriers/ messengers/ facilitators). |

Through publicity and distribution mechanism of DAM sales center and Ahsania Mission Book Distribution House this material is available throughout Bangladesh as per demand from user organization. |

The learners of PLCED project are using this material extensively. This booklet is also useful as reference materials for skill-based training. |
