According to the decided principle, special attention was paid to the contents of the training handbook like: health and hygiene; basic awareness of facts; practices and rules of good health; common diseases overcoming illness; cultivating good personal health habits; generating demand for access to better health services, skills of healthful living.
This training book is designed for a participatory approach. Using the activity-oriented method, it can improve the quality of training through lively interact between the facilitator and learners.
The handbook was designed for both the facilitators and learners.
Topics were chosen for each activity together with process of activities presented.
ISome opening questions are designated as follow-up for the learners.
Material Development Process
In order to ensure the quality for the Functional Literacy Training (FLT) of the WFP Integrated Rural Development Project in Gansu Province, Gansu Institute for Educational Research was asked by the Provincial Project Management Office to design a training material for FLT. Based on the successful experiences learned from ACCU materials, and with review of the past literacy education materials produced, a group of educational researchers was organized for the compiling.
Distribution & Utilization Process
It has been distributed to all the facilitators and learners in project areas, and will be put into use after training the facilitators.

As a material for the WFP project, the innovative idea is highly appreciated by the WFP specialists and the implementing agency.
