Description of the Material
(Innovativeness and effectiveness)
This is one of 2 booklets published in 2002 by Office of the Non-Formal Education Commission for reading promotion of Thai neo-literates and used throughout the country. It was first developed by a team of community development workers of DESILIFE Project implemented in a rural village of north-eastern Thailand. The material contents were contributed by rural people at the pilot site. It was tested and proven useful at community level. Afterwards this material had been revised, published and distributed at national level.
Everyone can take part in building democracy in the village, i.e. use of rights and freedom without violation of others', recognition of human dignity, self-governance through local administration committee and various village group, fair voting in community issues. At home, every member should be reasonable, divide responsibility, respect each other’s rights and responsibility and the opinion of majority.
