- Involved in literacy areas and community-based education since 1984.
- Started career as a researcher and field staff at the DELSLIFE (the Development of a Coordinated Educational Intervention System for Improving the Quality of Life of the Rural Poor through Self-Reliance) Project in eastern part of Indonesia.
- Involved in literacy activities under APPEAL-UNESCO PROAP and UN-ESCAP projects as a consultant from 1994 to 1997.
