-	Worked for over 15 years in the social sectors of education and health. Had the opportunity to handle important assignments at village/block, regional/state and national levels.
-	The Directorate of Adult Education received UNESCO LITERACY AWARD (1980-81) and appreciation from Prime Minister's Office (Scientific Advisory Committee) for presentation in National Literacy Mission, in 1988.
-	Advocated and endeavoured to promote population programmes and integrate population education in the adult literacy campaigns. Gender related issues and focus on girl's education have been highlighted so as to determine the appropriate strategy for achieving the goals of Education for All and Health for All.
