- Associated with people's movements for science popularization and awareness building primarily as part of the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP), a pioneering voluntary agency, since 1972.
- Director, Kerala Total Literacy Campaign 1990-1991 in the State of Kerala
- One of the founder members of the Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samithi (BGVS),which is one of the largest voluntary agencies in India, providing field and academic support for the implementation of Total Literacy, Post Literacy and Continuing Education (TL-PL-CE) throughout India.
- Member of the Executive Committee and Project Approval Committee of the National Literacy Mission (NLM) India since 1995. NLM is the main implementation agency for Literacy, Post Literacy and Continuing Education programmes in India.
