How to search for materials

You can access the search page by clicking the Search menu icon.
There are three ways to search for materials in this database.
You can conduct:
(1) a keyword search,
(2) a category search, or
(3) both keyword and category searches at the same time.

How to conduct a keyword search

Simply type a word in the text box and click the Search button.
You can type in any language.
The database will search for the materials which contain a particular word.
Click the View button to show the list of matches.

The database can search for multiple words.
If you want to search for the materials which contain some specific words, separate each word with a space.
The database cannot search for phrases.

Examples of keyword search

education
If you type in education, the database will search for the materials which contain the word education.
literacy education
If you type in literacy education, the database will search for the materials which contain literacy AND education, but not the phrase literacy education.
literacy, education
If you type in literacy, education, the comma will be recognised as a part of a word, and the database will search for the materials which contain literacy, and education. You do not need to type in a comma to conduct a search for multiple words.
literacy and education
If you type in literacy and education, and will be recognised as a word, and the database will search for the materials which contain literacy, and and education. You do not need to type in and to conduct a search for multiple words.
literacy education
If you want to search for materials which contain literacy OR education, you need to conduct two searches separately.
First, you search for the materials which contain the word literacy.
When that search is complete, conduct a new search for the materials which contain the word education.

The database is not case sensitive; no matter if you type in education, Education or EDUCATION, the database will conduct the same search.

How to conduct a category search

You can conduct a search by following categories:

  • Subject
  • Format
  • Target Country
  • Literacy Level
  • Target User
  • Learning Environment
  • Learning Objectives
  • ACCU Materials
  • Recommended for ESD
  • Language

Click on the category name to show the list of all selection items under each category, and check the appropriate boxes. Once you select an item, its category name will be highlighted in orange color. To hide the list of selection items, click again on the category name. You can select multiple items. After you select all the appropriate items, click the Search button. Click the View button to see the list of matches.

How to sort the search results

You can sort the search results by Title in English, Subject or Country in alphabetical order.
Click on Title in English, Subject or Country to sort the list of search results.

How to finish one search and continue with another search

Click the Reset button to finish one search and continue with another search.
You can also return to the top page of the search page by clicking the Search menu icon, and conduct a new search.

How to view the information on materials

From the top page, you can access the materials which are in the lists of “New Arrival”, “Download Ranking” and “Most Viewed Documents”.
Click on the name of material to see its information.

You can view the information on materials which are matched to your search.
After you conduct a search, click the View button to see the list of matched materials.
Click on the name of material to see its information.

How to download the full text/data of materials

After you reach the information of selected material, scroll down to the bottom of page.
If the full text/data of the selected material is available, you can see a Download button at the end of the information table for that material.
If you cannot find a Download button, the full text/data of that material is not available.

Before you can download materials, you must register as a user.

How to register as a user

You can access the registration page by clicking the Sign in button on the upper-right corner of the top page.
Click Register as a User, and fill in the registration form.
Please make sure to read the “Terms of Conditions” and the “Policy Statement”, and then click the I accept. Register. button.
An e-mail containing a log-in link will be sent to your e-mail address.
By clicking the log-in link, you can complete your registration.

How to log in as a user

You can access the log-in page by clicking the Sign in button on the upper-right corner of the top page.
Enter your registered username and password, and click the Login button.

How to log in if you have forgotten your password

You can access the log-in page by clicking the Sign in button on the upper-right corner of the top page.
If you have forgotten your password, click the Forgottten your password? button to reset your password.
After submitting your primary e-mail address (the e-mail address that is registered for your account) and a new password, an e-mail containing a log-in link will be sent to your e-mail address.
By clicking the log-in link, you can activate your new password.

How to contribute materials

You can access the Materials Contributor’s page at the following URL: http://www.accu.or.jp/matdb/contributor/ You can also access this page by clicking on the ■Contributor Top link at the upper-right corner of the top page.

Before entering the Materials Contributor’s page, you must have a username and a password issued by ACCU.
If you would like to contribute materials, please contact ACCU (matdb@accu.or.jp) to obtain a username and a password.
