One day a woodcutter goes into the forest but drops his axe in the pond. A water spirit appears and asks if a silver axe is his. The woodcutter replies no. The spirit appears again with a golden axe, then a plain axe. The woodcutter says the plain axe is his. The spirit rewards him for his honesty. |
