Every young man in the village hoped to marry Apouk, but her father wanted an intelligent husband. So whenever someone sought Apouk's hand, he demanded a toucan that was neither male nor female. No one was successful, and years went by. Then one handsome man fell deeply in love with her. His grandmother said, "Tell the father you've found the toucan. But to take it away he must come at an hour that is neither day nor night." When he said this, the father smiled, " At last, I've found the right man." A big wedding feast was held.
