Privacy Policy

From April 1, 2005, the “Personal Information Protection Law”, which is a law concerning the protection of personal information, was fully enforced in Japan. In addition, this law was amended on May 30, 2017, and was fully enforced.

This law requires the appropriate response of businesses that acquire and handle personal information in order to protect the rights and interests of individuals.

Based on the latest contents of this law, Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO(ACCU) will formulate the policy “Privacy Policy” regarding the protection of personal information as follows and will do everything possible to manage the safety of personal information. We look forward to your continued support.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully when using the Site’s services. When a person uses the services of this Site, the user shall be deemed to have fully understood and agreed to the contents of this Privacy Policy.

Privacy policy

ACCU recognizes the importance of protecting personal information with the enforcement of the “Act on the Protection of Personal Information” and will endeavor to protect personal information based on the following policy.

1.Collection of personal information

When acquiring personal information, ACCU clearly indicates the purpose of use and uses legal and appropriate means.

2.Purpose of use

Personal information acquired or held by ACCU will be used only for the following purposes in order to promote the Asia-Pacific regional culture, education and exchange projects carried out by ACCU.

(1)Providing information and requesting cooperation related to support for ACCU such as maintenance membership system and donations
(2)Accepting various types of support to ACCU (payment of maintenance membership fees and donations, donations with goods, volunteers, etc.), and sending thank-you notes and receipts  
(3)Sending public relations materials and ACCU activity reports                
(4)Information on the implementation of meetings and events        
(5)In addition, when it is necessary to respond to inquiries from users or contact about the Our Programme, etc.

3.Provision to third parties

ACCU will not provide your personal information to a third party without user’s prior consent, except as required by law or when users provide it to a business consignee. If it becomes necessary to provide it to a subcontractor, we will enter into a confidentiality agreement with the subcontractor.

4.Management and protection of personal information

ACCU shall appropriately manage the Personal Information provided by users and take measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, alteration, and leaks.

This Site uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypted communication for the safe exchange of data requiring protection, such as Personal Information. The information between this Site’s web server and your browser is protected using SSL technology.

5.Disclosure of Personal Information

If a user requests ACCU to disclose Personal Information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, ACCU shall disclose the Personal Information to the user without delay after confirming that the request is made by the actual user (if such Personal Information does not exist, ACCU shall notify the user). However, this provision shall not apply if ACCU is not obligated to disclose the Personal Information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act or other laws and regulations.

6.Compliance with privacy policy

Based on this policy, ACCU will inform all officers and employees of proper management methods and ensure proper handling of personal information.

7.Access analysis

The Site uses Google Analytics for traffic analysis. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect data. The data is collected anonymously and does not identify individuals.

8.Privacy Policy amendment procedures

ACCU will amend the Policy as necessary. When amending the Policy, shall publicise the effective date of the Policy by displaying it on the website. Users should check the amending date and details of the privacy policy before browsing this website.
