Education for Global Environmental Conservation
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set specific targets related to global environmental conservation, including:
- Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
- Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development
- Goal 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
These goals are deeply interconnected, and it is essential to understand their relationships and develop the capacity to take meaningful action to address them.
ACCU will promote educational initiatives focused on Marine Conservation Education, Climate Change Education, and Land Environment Conservation Education, which correspond to ocean, climate, and land-related issues. These efforts will be carried out in partnership with the Greening Education Partnership.
Marine Conservation Education
Marine conservation education focuses on critical issues such as marine debris, ocean warming, and the loss of marine biodiversity, aiming to foster a sustainable future for our oceans.
ACCU collaborates with UNESCO Bangkok, UNESCO Associated Schools, and UNESCO-designated sites, including Global Geoparks and Man and the Biosphere (MAB) in Japan and overseas, to implement marine conservation education programmes and collect relevant information.

Climate Change Education
Climate change education involves understanding the causes and impacts of climate change, including global warming, and exploring actions that contribute to a sustainable future.
ACCU engages in research and supports practitioners in collaboration with UNESCO regional offices, universities, and various partner organizations.

Terrestrial Environmental Conservation Education
Land-based challenges such as biodiversity loss, deforestation, and desertification are becoming increasingly severe. Land environment conservation education helps learners understand these issues and explore potential solutions.
ACCU collaborates with UNESCO-designated sites, including Global Geoparks and Man and the Biosphere (MAB) in Japan and overseas, to collect information and support educational efforts.
