Exchange with India

The international exchange programme between Japan and India is conducted as the “Invitation Programme for Teachers from India” – a programme that invites Indian teachers to Japan – with the support of the Ministry of Education, Government of India (MoE), the Centre for Environmental Education (CEE) and the Embassy of India in Japan since 2016. 86 Indian teachers have taken part in the programme by 2021.

During their stay of about one week in Japan, Indian teachers will attend lectures about the educational system and policies of Japan. They will also visit schools and cultural facilities. In order to enrich the exchange of Indian and Japanese teachers, ACCU conducts a full-day exchange meeting in which Japanese teachers gathered from all over the country via open recruitment, and Indian teachers come together. The participants of the exchange meeting share the educational practices of one another, discuss them in groups, and present good practices, etc.

Even after the Indian teachers have returned to their own country, the exchange between teachers who became acquainted with one another through school visits and exchange events continues, which includes visiting schools in India by some Japanese teachers, holding exchange classes for students in English, and starting working towards the establishment of sister school partnerships.
