Seminar-training on “Strategy of introduction of inclusive education in Uzbekistan”, organized in 26-28 August 2008

Seminar-training on “Strategy of introduction of inclusive education in Uzbekistan” was organized by Republican Avloni Teachers Training Institute in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education and Republican Educational Center in 26-28 August 2008 in Tashkent in order to enhance professional skills of teachers and raise knowledge on the concept of inclusive education, its contents, fundamentals, the aim of its introduction, practical outcomes of inclusive education.
Rector of the Avloni Teacher Training Institute Mr.Dj.Yuldoshev delivered opening speech. Coordinator of Inclusive Education in Uzbekistan Ms.R.Shomakhmudova presented a report on “Convention of Child Rights and Inclusive Education” and gave thorough information on current activities in this sphere. Besides, Head of Department of Special Education at Avloni Teachers Training Institute Ms.U.Fayzieva made a report on “Problems of Education and Upbringing of Children with Special Needs”, giving information on attention paid to inclusive education and works being realized in Uzbekistan in this sphere.
Lecturers mentioned the importance of elaboration of new models of inclusive education in the system of special education. They exchanged ideas and recommendations about elaboration of legal acts on education of children with special needs, social and legal protection, making amendments to the existing laws.
Coordinator of Inclusive Education Resource Centre Ms.R.Shomakhmudova took the floor. She drew attention to theoretical and practical fundamentals of inclusive education at the global level and in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, Ms.R.Shomakhmudova also presented information on legal basis of inclusive education, and particularly, on contents of legal documents.
Ms.H.Kalbaeva introduced participants the working methods with children with disabilities from early childhood, preparation methods for inclusive education in families and pre-school educational establishments
Then, participants of the training-seminar were divided into working groups. Every working group presented its project on elaborated projects. After presentation participants had a lunch.
The following issues were tackled during the seminar-training:
1) Information on the concept of Inclusive Education, its contents, objectives and tasks was disseminated;
2) Thorough information on theoretical and practical fundamentals of inclusive education at the global and national levels was given;
3) Methodic assistance on teacher training in the sphere of Inclusive Education was given to the participants;
4) Practical outcomes of Inclusive Education were discussed;
5) Information on methods of introduction of innovation technologies into inclusive education system was also given;
6) Practical instructions and recommendations concerning the introduction of inclusive education were given, while methodic recommendations were disseminated.
At the end of the seminar-training participants took part in questionnaire, which was reviewed and analyzed.
