From 4 to 10 October 2016, on the"Invitation Programme for Teachers from Thailand" 15 teachers and officials from Thailand came to Japan and visited schools and other educational institutions. This was implemented as the second programme following the last year's one under the framework of United Nations University International Educational Exchange Programme .
The delegation of 15 members this year was mainly from secondary schools and the government in Thailand. At the beginning of their seven-day stay they visited the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT) and received lectures on educational system and school-community relationship in Japan. Then, the group visited three secondary schools in Tokyo area. Following the explanations on the curricula and extra-curricular activities, they got chances to observe classrooms and other students’ activities. In Higashi-Atago Junior High School a lesson on Thai culture taught by Thai participants was held for Japanese students. They also had a chance to visit a publishing company and got direct information on the publication of textbooks in Japan.
At the last part of their stay, Japan-Thailand educational exchange workshop was held for one day on 9 October in Tokyo. All the fifteen Thai participants met the participants of fifteen Japanese teachers and educators gathered from many parts of Japan including Miyagi, Okayama etc. The participants of both countries spent a busy day with a lecture on the education in Thailand and members' reports on their findings in Japanese education followed by the group discussions on the themes of participants' common interests. In the final session two countries’teachers discussed the ways how to continue the exchanges and build a sustainable network of education.
