National Policies on Literacy / Non-formal Education in Latest Policy Document on Education

1.	Prevent growth of illiteracy and educate school-aged children who are out of school.
2.	Promote basic literacy in order to eradicate illiteracy.
3.	Develop continuing education for increasing learners' awareness and their competence and abilities.
4.	Transform literacy-based instruction and establish adult education programmes.

Objectives:
1.	To continue promotion of quality education.
2.	To increase knowledge and competencies of manpower.
3.	To develop literacy and learning materials for learners and neo-literates.
4.	To strengthen non-contact and semi-contact education with focus on self-learning and self-reliance.
5.	To strengthen local and regional units for producing literacy materials.
6.	To develop functional education in order to improve learners' individual and social life.
7.	To establish study groups for semi-literates.
8.	To organize income generating and job creating units for neo-literates.
9.	To improve inter-sectorial co-operation and offer core messages on different issues.
