This is the final report of the Meeting of Experts on NFE Policy and Programme for the Promotion of EFA (Education for All) organized by ACCU in cooperation with UNESCO Asia-Pacific Programme of Education for All (APPEAL) and the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO in Tokyo, Japan from 11 to 12 December 2009.
The objectives of the meeting were to discuss new trends in policy and programme in non-formal education (NFA) in the effort to achieve Education for All (EFA) goals.
The report contains the keynote speech, presentations, summary and recommendation of the meeting, as well as the keynote speech, presentations and other documents of the Symposium on Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation for the Promotion of Culture and Education, which was organised by ACCU on 10 December 2009.

This is the final report of Research on the Trends in Community Learning Centers(CLC) in Asia and the Pacific for the Purpose of Internationalisation of Kominkan of Japan, which was organised by ACCU in cooperation with Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.
The research was conducted to (1) collect and figure out information of CLC policies, institutions and realities on Asia and the Pacific regions; (2) organise information of Japan’s Kominkan in view of contribution to Asia and the Pacific regions and internationalisation; and (3) research how Kominkan and network between CLCs and Kominkan should function in the future.

This is a report of the Empowering People through Evaluation for a Sustainable Future -Final Report on the “HOPE” Evaluation Mission on the ACCU-UNESCO Asia-Pacific Innovation Programme for Education for Sustainable Development-.
The acronym “HOPE,” formed from the first letters of the word “HOlistic,” “Participatory,” and “Empowering,” is just as these letters express – an evaluation method designed on the basis of holistic values, emphasising a participatory approach, and which aims to empower people. As a method which value dialogue, one essential task in the “HOPE” Evaluation Approach is local interviews. To conduct these interviews, surveys were conducted in the seven countries; Palau, Bhutan, Thailand, Mongolia, Viet Nam, Malaysia and Indonesia. The extensive data gathered in these countries has been compiled in this report.

This is the final report of the 2009 ACCU-LRC Model Literacy Project for Women,SMILE Asia Joint Monitoring Mission in Cambodia, which was jointly organised by ACCU and the Cambodian Women’s Development Agency (LRC Cambodia) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 24 to 26 June 2009.

This is the final report of the Asia-Pacific Forum for ESD Educators and Facilitators, which was organised by ACCU in cooperation with UNESCO and Japanese National Commission for UNESCO in Tokyo, Japan from 22 to 24 August 2009.

This is the final report of the International Forum on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Dialogue 2008, which was organised by Mnistry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT), The Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO and ACCU in cooperation with the United Nations University (UNU) and Miyagi University of Education in Tokyo, Japan from 2 to 5 December 2008.
The forum was organised to define ESD and seek to identify strategically conceprualised actions for the implementation and achievement of DESD objectives in line with the International Implementation Scheme (IIS).

This report introduces the Mobile Workshop for Effective Programme Implementation of Literacy Resource Centres for Girls and Women 2004, which was conducted by ACCU and two LRC partners, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) and Cambodian Women’s Development Agency (CWDA) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and in Dhaka, Bangladesh (from 10 to 17 June 2004). This report introduces the 2004 Capacity Building Workshop for Literacy Resource Centres for Girls and Women in Asia and the Pacific (2004 LRC CBW), which was co-organized by ACCU and the Research and Training Centre for Literacy Education (RTCLE), China at the Southwest China Normal University from 8 to 14 April 2004 in cooperation with UNESCO Basic Education Department, Ministry of Education of China and the UNESCO National Commissions of China and Japan. The immediate objectives of the workshop were to discuss about (1) ACCU-LRC network and UN literacy decade; (2) LRC resource generation and mobilization; (3) special efforts in promoting literacy and NFE for girls and women. The monitoring and evaluation survey aimed to analyse the present characteristics of the ACCU-LRC network through examination of the three elements of LRC activities which are common to all the LRCs: (1) literacy/learning resource management; (2) focus on girls and women; and (3) network activities. Three LRCs were chosen for the monitoring and evaluation survey, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) of Bangladesh, Studio Driya Media (SDM) of Indonesia, and Non-Formal Education Development Centre (NFEDC) of Lao PDR.

This report introduces the 20^th Regional Workshop on the Capacity Building for Trainers of NFE Facilitators in Asia and the Pacific in December 2002. The workshop is (1) to understand the factors which contribute to the effective job performance as a trainer of NFE facilitators in the area of training on preparing of local learning aids and materials, training on preparation of lesson plan, and use of participatory training techniques and process, and (2) to acquire knowledge and skills to prepare a training programme for national training activities using ACCU / APPEAL resource packages. This is a report of the Planning Meeting for Afghan-UNESCO-ACCU Project for Promoting Literacy and Non-Formal Education in Afghanistan, which was organised by the Ministry of Education, Afghanistan, UNESCO and ACCU in Kabul, Afghanistan from 28 to 29 January 2003.
Objectives of the meeting were to (1) review the present situation of literacy/NFE in Afghanistan and to share feasible NFE projects in the context of NFE policies of Afghanistan; (2) explore an effective coordinating mechanism among key organisations including UNESCO, ACCU and NFUAJ, for the implementation of literacy/NFE projects in Afghanistan, mainly LAND AFGHAN; and (3) design a comprehensive literacy/NFE project within and beyond LAND AFGHAN covering learning materials development, personnel training and community learning centres and develop its working mechanism, timeframe, budget, expected outcomes, etc.

This report introduces the Asia-Pacific Forum for UNESCO-Future of our Culture and Education-, which was held in Tokyo from 29 to 31 July, 2003. This forum was organised by ACCU in cooperation with UNESCO and the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO.

This report introduces the 19th Regional Workshop, which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam in November 2001. Experts from 18 countries in the region who train NFE/CLC facilitators to design teaching-learning activities and prepare learning materials participated. The activity was conducted placing more stress on how to decentralize technical know-how to grassroots level. This report introduces "ACCU-APPEAL Joint Planning Meeting on Regional NFE Programmes in Asia and the Pacific", which was held in Tokyo, Japan. Representatives of Government NFE agencies from 19 countries and selected LRCs participated to evaluate ACCU and APPEAL programmes. They also discussed regional EFA plans of action in the fields of literacy, and continuing education programmes as a part of regional follow-up efforts of "Dakar Framework for Action". The report consists of three parts: (1) Introduction; (2) Proceeding; and (3) Summary of Country Reports for NFE Innovations.

The report contains regional cooperative mechanism, results achieved, impact studies and case studies of tree fields of ACCU' s regional literacy programmes in Asia and the Pacific, namely, material development, human resource development and network building, since 1981. The impact studies included were outcomes of reviews and discussions during the planning meeting of regional literacy programme of ACCU held in Tokyo in 1999. The outcomes were summarised by the Impact Study Team comprised of five eminent experts in non-formal education in the region. Case studies related to regional literacy activities are from Bangladesh, China, Iran, Myanmar, Nepal and the Philippines.
