This is the final report of Research on the Trends in Community Learning Centers(CLC) in Asia and the Pacific for the Purpose of Internationalisation of Kominkan of Japan, which was organised by ACCU in cooperation with Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.
The research was conducted to (1) collect and figure out information of CLC policies, institutions and realities on Asia and the Pacific regions; (2) organise information of Japan’s Kominkan in view of contribution to Asia and the Pacific regions and internationalisation; and (3) research how Kominkan and network between CLCs and Kominkan should function in the future.

This is a report of the Empowering People through Evaluation for a Sustainable Future -Final Report on the “HOPE” Evaluation Mission on the ACCU-UNESCO Asia-Pacific Innovation Programme for Education for Sustainable Development-.
The acronym “HOPE,” formed from the first letters of the word “HOlistic,” “Participatory,” and “Empowering,” is just as these letters express – an evaluation method designed on the basis of holistic values, emphasising a participatory approach, and which aims to empower people. As a method which value dialogue, one essential task in the “HOPE” Evaluation Approach is local interviews. To conduct these interviews, surveys were conducted in the seven countries; Palau, Bhutan, Thailand, Mongolia, Viet Nam, Malaysia and Indonesia. The extensive data gathered in these countries has been compiled in this report.

19th Regiona Workshop on Capacity Building for Trainers of CLC Facilitators in Rural Areas in Asia and the Pacific

This report introduces the 19th Regional Workshop, which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam in November 2001. Experts from 18 countries in the region who train NFE/CLC facilitators to design teaching-learning activities and prepare learning materials participated. The activity was conducted placing more stress on how to decentralize technical know-how to grassroots level. The report consists of four parts: (1) Proceedings; (2) Group Work; (3) Paper Presentations; and (4) Participants' Report and National Follow-up Plan.



2001 ACCU-APPEAL Joint Planning Meeting on Regional NFE Programmes in Asia and the Pacific, Final Report

This report introduces "ACCU-APPEAL Joint Planning Meeting on Regional NFE Programmes in Asia and the Pacific", which was held in Tokyo, Japan. Representatives of Government NFE agencies from 19 countries and selected LRCs participated to evaluate ACCU and APPEAL programmes. They also discussed regional EFA plans of action in the fields of literacy, and continuing education programmes as a part of regional follow-up efforts of "Dakar Framework for Action". The report consists of three parts: (1) Introduction; (2) Proceeding; and (3) Summary of Country Reports for NFE Innovations.



Literacy: ACCU Impact and Strategies for the Future

The report contains regional cooperative mechanism, results achieved, impact studies and case studies of tree fields of ACCU' s regional literacy programmes in Asia and the Pacific, namely, material development, human resource development and network building, since 1981. The impact studies included were outcomes of reviews and discussions during the planning meeting of regional literacy programme of ACCU held in Tokyo in 1999. The outcomes were summarised by the Impact Study Team comprised of five eminent experts in non-formal education in the region. Case studies related to regional literacy activities are from Bangladesh, China, Iran, Myanmar, Nepal and the Philippines.
